ONE NON -BLONDE

An Anonymous commenter on my recent Jdaters Anonymous post (about the survey about more intelligent women being less likely to marry) complained about my perpetuation of negative stereotyping about blondes:

He wrote:
Some of the most intelligent women I have ever met have been natural blondes. Blonde hair is not a marker for low IQ, although perhaps black hair that is dyed blonde is. I take it that you have black hair.

I rarely make fun of negative comments. But since this one’s anonymous, I would just like to say: grow a sense of humor. This guy can’t really believe that I believe that blondes are dumb. Some of my best pals are blonde. I’ve got nothing against ‘em. Sometimes, I even think about becoming one! But if you’re living in the world, you’re aware of the existence of blonde jokes. And that was what I was riffing on. Although apparently, unsuccessfully.

But if he thought my comment in the opening paragraph about blondes was meant to be taken literally, maybe I should clarify that I'm not advocating brain reductions either. It just goes to show you that sometimes, a joke is all in the vocalized delivery. I don't believe that all blondes are stupid and therefore get married quicker. It was a joke.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to purchase some Sun-In.

Ya know, I might eventually give these complainers a little credit if they, pardon the Greek expression, had the balls to leave their real names. This is a fact. Not one of my complainers has ever left a real name. Ever. I don't think you owe this guy any explanation that you were kidding...Esther with Blonde hair? Hmmm...

Somehow, I get the feeling your Anonymous poster is really an offended blonde woman. Why else would they be afraid to leave their name? Hmm.

I also thought your joke was pretty obvious. If this is guy is really dating intelligent blondes, it looks like the ladies don't have much in common with him.

(Oh, yeah, BURN! Sorry, too much That 70's Show.)
