LIVE, FROM NEW YORK...
It's...me.
WHAT: Esther's live television debut
WHEN: Wednesday, September 15, at or around 8:00 am
WHERE: Fox's morning show, Good Day New York
SUBJECT: Rosh Hashanah 101
Yes, it's true. I'll be appearing on live television early in the morning. (My parents are not sure which is the more impressive part. Actually, as someone who's definitely not a morning person, I'm not sure either.)
Tune in and watch as I informally educate New Yorkers about the meaning Rosh Hashanah. If things go well and the public clamors for more, Yom Kippur 101's a possibility. This time of year, there's always another Jewish holiday that needs 'splainin'.
My prep the night before? I'll say a prayer to the improv gods, bone up on the essential elements of the holidays, and purchase some apples and honey. For a sweet new year for all.

Congrats! I will try to TiVo it (brand-new TiVo, still not quite sure how to work it) but 8 a.m. isn't so early for those of us who have to be at work by 7.30...I'm sure you'll be awesome, and your adoring fans will beg for more.
How exciting! I'm going to tell my sister to watch it!
Congratulations. Sadly, I won't be able to see it, but I am sure you'll post and let us all know how it went. Or maybe you could provide videotapes to all of your faithful readers?
Enjoy yourself, stay calm, and don't forget to breath. Those all helped me (well, the last two) when I gave a live interview a couple years ago. Fortunately, though, it sounds like you'll be discussing a far more pleasant topic than the Chandra Levy case, which is why it was a little hard to enjoy myself in my own interview.
Congrats. The don't forget to breathe advice is good. Also suggest the tried and true practicing in the mirror some of the RH essentials, and/or w/ a tape recorder, to get it down the pithy witty comments about the apple, shofar, etc.
Good luck!
Ari
P.S. Thanks for ushering. (Now you know which Ari)
Esther, Congratulations! That's really cool. Incidentally, I think it is very impressive for a non-morning person to get up to do something at the ungodly hour of 8 a.m. I mean, you're going to have to wake up at like 6 or something. Man, that's harsh. I don't know how people do it.
Congrats! That's awesome. Is this something non-New Yorkers will be able to see?
Thanks everyone. I hope I live up to the (self-generated) hype. Pretty sure the live broadcast is just NYC-area. Thanks to my tech-happy dad, I will undoubtedly have DVDs made, and might be able to arrange shipment of said appearance to well-connected parties. I may also have my dad post it to the family website, if he knows how to do that. In the world of technology, everything's possible. Thanks for your interest...if the appearance meets my standards, I'll try to enable the maximum number of viewings. If not, I will hunt down all recordings and destroy them in a bonfire. In any case, thank you everyone--for your support.
If I can handle an interview, anyone can handle an interview... You'll do fine.
Esther,
You were great on Good Day! More power to ya! It was really cute how everybody was rooting for you on the show. All that Kvelling... and from Jim Ryan too!
Shana Tova M'suka!
Shana Tova! You were great!!!
(I want a copy of the Kustanowitz Kronikle!)
